July 2009's Book of the Month is The Little Book of Common Sense Investing, in which author John Bogle argues in favor of indexing, or passive investing. The author, founder of The Vanguard Group, draws on empirical evidence to support his argument that the most sensible path for investors is to invest in well-diversified, low-cost funds for the long-term. While this book is by no means the first to make these arguments, it is an easy read and accessible for beginners.
